A Syrian man named Mohammed Rayhan was among the 117 people who had died when the government forces shelled the market place in douma. His family had given up all hope of ever finding him when he failed to return home. However, after three days Mr. Rayhan was found by rescuers trying to pull himself out from a mountain of rubble where he had survived for 36 hours. After being rescued,he went back home and interrupted the final day of mourning, much to the delight of his family.
Mr. Syrian is now being called the "Living Martyr" since his miraculous survival.
